I’m proud to practise a range of techniques from the worlds of psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and coaching, and I’ll select the right approach (or mix of approaches) to support you at every step along your journey.

Person-centred counselling

Person-centred counselling is based on the idea that rather than an expert telling you what to do, your therapist is a facilitator who can help you explore your innate resources to find your own solutions and fulfil your personal potential. It’s an approach which has strong foundations in non-judgemental listening, encouragement and supportive guidance through the therapeutic process.

Clinical Hypnotherapy

Clinical Hypnosis gives us a way to work with the subconscious mind, where our past memories, deep emotions and belief systems are stored. It is a deeply relaxed, focused state where you’re open to helpful suggestions. Hypnotherapy is a way of using hypnosis to change habits, motivate yourself and regain control in areas of your life. It gently removes ‘blocks’, such as fears or negative thinking patterns, which are getting in the way of you overcoming a problem.

It’s important to remember that you can’t be hypnotised if you don’t want to be, and you’re still fully in control when you’re under hypnosis. If you don’t want to take on the suggestions we work on during hypnotherapy, you won’t have to.

Gestalt therapy

Gestalt is a form of psychotherapy which helps you to better understand the way you relate to others by focusing on your immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviours. With greater awareness, we aim to help you to see the bigger picture, find a new perspective and start to make changes.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

CBT is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are all connected, and that because of this you can become stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts and feelings. This approach can help you navigate challenges you face by examining the way you think and behave, and making conscious, gradual changes.

Solution-focused therapy

This approach is focused on goals and on making changes for the future. It focuses on solutions rather than on the problem and is particularly helpful for short-term work with clients.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP is a coaching technique which explores the relationships between the way we think, the way we communicate, and our behavioural and emotional patterns.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a practice which seeks to improve our awareness of ourselves and the world around us. It can be a useful tool in improving our wellbeing and works well alongside the other approaches I use.
